Will the G-8 summit at Gleneagles ultimately help Africa?

The G-8 summit has been very beneficial in providing aid to the country of Africa. Africa's poverty levels are extreme and is devastating the country. Despite this enormous epidemic, Africa has made great strides toward improving education, community capabilities and technology, internet and cell phones. These are areas that are boosting the capacity of community and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). NGOs provide a more direct path in escaping poverty, being innovative, providing program flexibility, more knowledgeable, creating trust, credibility and advocacy. The greatest advantage of the G-8 sumit is it empowers the African people to overcome poverty.
On the other hand, critics argue that the G-8 summit is useless and a waste of valuable time and resources. They feel that money will not provide Africans with the necessary skills to make a difference. Another reason why the G-8 summit is wasting money is because civil wars continue to devastate the economy. Africa can not feed itself because the land is poor and the soil lack proper nutrients to continue to produce.
I feel that the government is constantly ripping off the African people of money, healthcare and the necessities to sustain life. Aids and other fatal diseases are killing the nation.
